The Youth Organiser of the Wenchi constituency of the opposition New Patriotic Party in the Brong Ahafo region, Richard Adu Kwadwo, has stated that the level of frustrations and desperation which the youth of this country have endured under the current government should be enough reason for them to lead an onslaught against the re-election bid of President Mahama and his governing NDC in the December polls.
According to the youth leader who doubles the Assembly Member of the Ntoase Electoral area in Wenchi, this year's elections is about the protection of the future of the youth in Ghana, for which reason they should lead the change agenda.
He said the NDC government had shown that it has no regard for the youth of the country and their progress; hence it remains a patriotic national duty for the youth to vote it out this December.
Speaking exclusively with the Daily Statesman yesterday, the constituency youth leader was of the firm view that until there was a change in government in December, there would be absolutely no life again for the youth of Ghana.
Lack of jobs for the youth, he noted, was evident in the fact that apart from the high numbers of unemployed graduates in the country, who are crying over their inability to land jobs, universities and polytechnics are releasing into the system other batch of youth who will come and compound the situation. Yet, the government is clueless in creating jobs for them, he notes.
Richard Adu Kwadwo said the only way of restoring hope and confidence was for them to vote for change, a change that would benefit them and make their dreams a reality.
According to him, President Mahama and his government have always shown that they don’t have the interest of the youth at heart, adding that any mistake to retain them will spell doom for the future that they have hoped for.
In his view, the monies that have gone waste due to corruption could have created enough financial pool that could have created sustainable jobs for the people.
"But due to wickedness and greed, only few cronies are enjoying our sweat. This tells us that they did not come for us but themselves. The NPP under Kufuor worked for the wellbeing of the youth but this is not the case under this corrupt government," Mr Adu lamented.
To him, a programme like the National Youth Employment Programme was the first to be targeted by the NDC for destruction through corrupt practices.
According to him, the change the country seeks this year is a change from corruption, incompetence, massive unemployment among the youth and insensitivity, stressing "we are only assured of a brighter future if we kick this government out and bring in the NPP."
He charged on the teaming youth of Ghana to get involved in ensuring that President Mahama and the NDC the red card, and ensure that the NPP forms the next government in 2017, under Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
