Even though there are vivid evidence of
President John Dramani Mahama’s developmental projects across the country, NPP’s
Anthony Abayifa Karbo says the president has done absolutely nothing with his
presidency – specifically for his own natives. The New Patriotic Party
(NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Lawra in the Upper West Region explained that,
the president who is a native from the northern part of the country has
“deliberately” neglected the people of the region.
According to him,
NPP’s flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has rather proven to have the
people of the northern region at heart and has promised to develop the region
should he be voted into power.
“The NPP has made commitment to some
projects in the region should Nana Addo is voted in to power. The projects will
take off as soon as Nana Addo is elected president. These same projects have
been abandoned by President Mahama and his government,” he said.
Karbo
was responding to President Mahama’s assertion that, he feels sorry for
Northerners calling for change.
According to the president, the
opposition New Patriotic Party has no regard for northerners “Sometimes I feel
sad when I see some of our Northern brothers running around and also doing this
(the change sign), they will use you and dump you.”
Addressing a rally
at Lawra in the Upper West region, where he is currently campaigning ahead of
the December 7 polls, President Mahama said the party's [NPP] disregard for
Northerners was exposed when the late Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama had to
contest 16 other people in an effort to succeed his boss, former President John
Kufuor in the 2007 presidential primaries of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo
tradition.
But NPP’s Lawra parliamentary aspirant, Karbo says the
President is rather cruel to Northerners – “What has he [President Mahama] done
with this presidency for Northerners? If not corruption, what has he
done?” |
