A former District Chief Executive (DCE) for
Sissala West District in the Upper West Region under the administration of the
late Professor John Evans Atta Mills, Mr. Robert Baka Wavei has cross carpet to
the New Patriotic Party (NPP).The former government appointee has since
thrown his weight behind NPP Parliamentary candidate for Mr. Patrick Adamah whom
he has described as a father and a relation.
At a political rally at
Sorbelle he said “election is not merely about political parties but anyone who
will bring development”. People support and follow political parties where they
are respected. If your father, mother or son deserts you, you can look for a
father outside of your home. If you also leave your hoe at the farm it, can get
burnt by wildfire or consumed by the termites”.
Balu Mohammed of
Tumu-based Radford Fm, reports that the new convert bemoaned the high cost of
fertilizer which has left many farmers grappling to pay the school fees of their
wards and questioned why the NDC should attack the policy of free Senior High
School promised by Nana Akufo-Addo only to turn round and promise
same.
“Why should anyone attack the policy of another person promising to
build factories; we should rather be asking what type of factory and not to
attack them. In September, how many farmers in the Northern part of Ghana would
be able to bring out One Thousand Nine Hundred Ghana Cedis as school fees for
their wards? You will need to sell several bags of maize to pay these fees and
how many of them can do that”, he quizzed
He was not happy that
government has withdrawn teachers and nurses’ allowances indicating that many
parents are not financially capable of catering for their wards at the tertiary
levels and only depend on these allowances to cushion themselves.
Mr.
Robert Baka who is a retired nutritionist from the Ghana Health Service appealed
to the supporters to follow parties that will give them respect.
“I will
come into your communities after today’s event as we wish Patrick Adamah is
given a ministerial appointment to help him bring development to the people
should the NPP win. A lot of people are aware of what I have gone through,
”Alhaji knows why I am saying all of these things today” he
concluded. |
