Akufo-Addo crosses Oti River after hours of delay

The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akufo-Addo and his campaign team have been able to cross the Oti River after getting stranded on one bank for hours.

According to reports, the only ferry on the river got stuck at the other end of the river causing a delay of several hours.

Some officials of the NPP suspected sabotage on the part of the Volta regional minister Helen Ntoso who is also MP for Krachi West.

But campaign Spokesperson, Mustapha Hamid on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday said he does not suspect any foul play.

He said, information from the ferry operators suggested a truck which was moving onto the ferry skidded and partially plunged into the river, making it impossible for the ferry to move.

Therefore, he said the truck had to be towed before the ferry was able to return to the river bank.

Mustapha Hamid added that, the ferry has returned and the campaign team is moving to Krachi Nchumuru.

Nana Akufo-Addo, he stated is also scheduled to move to other areas in the Krachi West constituency to continue with his campaign.

Mustapha Hamid said, so far the feedback from the Volta region is very encouraging and the party is confident it will win at least 30 percent of valid votes cast in the December 7 polls.

Nana Akufo-Addo is on a five day tour of the region considered the ruling NDC's stronghold.
