President-elect Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will today, Thursday December 22, 2016, start a 3-day “thank you” tour of the three northern regions and Brong Ahafo region.
Nana Akufo-Addo is expected to among other things pay a courtesy call on traditional and religious leaders in these regions to thank them for their support in his victory in the recently held presidential polls.

Beginning from the Northern region, the tour will also afford the president-elect the opportunity to assure the traditional and religious leaders of his commitment to fulfill his campaign promises, according to Eugene Arhin, his press secretary.

According to Ibrahim Bashiru, Upper East Regional Youth Organizer of the NPP, the President-elect’s visit to the region includes a call on the Bawku Naba, Naba Asigri Abogrago Azorka II and paramount chief of Sandema, Nab Azagsuk Azantillow.

He added that Nana Akufo-Addo would tomorrow, Friday, December 23, pay a courtesy call on the paramount chief of the Talensi traditional area, Tong-Rana Kugbilsong Nalebegtang.
Nana Akufo-Addo has already visited the Greater Regional House of Chiefs where he thanked them for their support for the NPP’s victorious election bid, which saw the party capture majority of the parliamentary seat in the region.

During a similar meeting with the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, the president-elect described the NPP’s election victory as a contract with the people of Ghana, and promised that the incoming government would keep its side of the contract.

“The government and I shall always remember that the people of Ghana expected the quality of their lives to improve. We shall always remember that Ghanaians want to be treated with dignity,” the President-elect declared.
