The opposition New Patriotic Party(NPP) has called for a full scale investigations into what it says is a fresh scheme by the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) to rig the December 7 elections.
Director of Elections, Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, told Kasapa 102.5 FM Tuesday the party was alarmed by some security breach at Innolink, the company printing the ballot papers for Greater Accra and Volta Regions fueling suspicions that their opponents are planning very seriously to rig the upcoming polls.
The party alleged that management of the printing house connived with an outsider to sneak out the printing plate being used for printing of the ballot papers without any better explanation given to them.
“I got a report from my agents stationed at the printing house that the production manager, one Anderson, had handed over a production plate to a gentleman who entered and moved out with a plate suspected to be that of the Presidential. So I immediately requested that he hand over the phone to the production manager, and interrogate the issue. When I got him on the phone, he admitted giving the plate to a gentleman who took it out of the place. Except that for over 10 minutes, he could not confirm or tell me exactly where the plate was, but after pushing for 10 minutes he admitted it,” he explained.
Mr. Korsah intimated the party is alarmed of plots to rig the December polls in favour of the incumbent as it alleged the ballots already printed might have been compromised.
He asked the police to fasttrack investigations and bring perpetrators to book
