The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary
candidate for Awutu-Senya West constituency George Andah has stated that he will
not waste time to respond to lies peddled against him by the incumbent Member of
Parliament (MP) Hanna Serwah Tetteh and her campaign team. Mr. Andah
said he is focused on working assiduously to ensure that he wins the seat as
well see his Flagbearer Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the helm of affairs than
to go into the gutters with members of NDC.
‘I am focused on my campaign,
working hard to bring our flagbearer Akufo-Addo into office. I don’t work for
NDC so will not respond to their press statement. I won’t waste time on NDC
peddling lies and untruths about me, my campaign is not going to be derailed
because of what NDC says or do not says,’ he explained.
The Parliamentary
hopeful has received backlash for telling Hanna Tetteh to produce her husband
when the latter described him as irresponsible for changing jobs.
But
speaking on Ultimate Breakfast Show hosted by Lantam Papanko, he denied
allegations that he has been going on insulting spree adding that his campaign
has been devoid of insults and will not sit aloof for NDC to paint him black in
the eyes of the constituents.
‘Why should I apologise, what have I done
wrong? Hanna Tetteh and the DCE have been spreading lies about myself and our
flagbearer. In as much as I will not get into the gutters with them, my team and
I will not sit down for them to have a field day on running people down, we will
respond appropriately without insulting anyone,’ he said.
According to
him, family plays important roles in leadership positions and that he was only
challenging Madam Tetteh to go round her campaign tours with her
husband.
‘I have never made reference to married or married people. My
elder sister is not married, I love her and she loves me, so I don’t understand
where this hullabaloo is coming from. I have never insulted anyone.
I
have been campaigning devoid of insults, devoid of personal attacks, devoid of
any sort of getting into the gutter despite a lot of provocation. We know that
as part of leadership family plays a key role. You have been an MP for the past
8 years, show us your husband, maybe your husband has travelled or is not in
support of what you are doing, or doesn’t believe in you, exactly on the premise
that I made that statement,’ he stated. |
