Former Rector of the Ghana Institute of
Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Prof. Stephen Adei says he has
strong conviction that Ghana would have far developed if the country could boast
of 100 people of Pastor Mensah Otabil’s type.According to him, the kind
of development the renowned Pastor and Chancellor of the Central University has
privately spearheaded in the field of education and business sectors is
unmatched.
Prof. Stephen Adei was speaking at a Lecture at the
Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Logos Congregation, Achimota, as part of the
Church’s 50th-anniversary celebration which will be climaxed on Sunday, July 31,
on the theme: “The Role of the Church in the political dispensation of the
country.”
Pastor Otabil has been vilified several times by members of the
ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) including ministers and the party’s
deputy General Secretary Koku Anyidoho who are of the view that the man of God’s
utterances, actions and inactions tend to favour the opposition New Patriotic
Party (NPP).
However, Prof. Stephen Adei noted that though the Bible says
“Indeed, all who desire to live godly lives in Christ Jesus will be persecuted”
2 Tim.3: 12, Pastor Mensah Otabil must not come under attack from young men in
politics who have not achievement anything significant in life.
“We
should not allow young men who have never worked until their political
appointment to insult anybody let alone Pastor Mensah Otabil because of
politics. This is someone who is visionary and has acted on his several visions
to the benefit of this country. Such a person must be celebrated and not be
crucified on the altar of politics by young people who would have been nobody
had it not been politics.” |
