The 2016 flagbearer of the National Democratic
Party (NDP), Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, has once again taken a swipe at the
governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) for plunging the nation into an
untold hardship.Mrs. Rawlings said the situation has made life very
unbearable for Ghanaians.
According to her, many Ghanaians, especially
the youth are bearing the brunt of the NDC government’s ‘incompetent’ management
of Ghana, saying the Mahama-led administration is bereft of cogent policies and
programmes to impact positively on the lives of the teeming Ghanaian
youth.
“More than 60 percent of this country’s population are youth, but
why is it that, majority of the population is suffering? Parents are suffering,
we adults are also suffering and anybody who will tell you that, they are
comfortable; they are part of the stealing,” the former first lady
stated.
Addressing a rally at Ziope to outdoor the party’s parliamentary
nominee for the Agortime-Ziope constituency in the Volta region, Dr. David Sunu,
Mrs. Rawlings said Ghanaians have had enough of the NDC’s ‘destruction’ of the
country and called on the electorate to show them the exit in the upcoming
December 7 polls.
“We have to correct things that is why it is important
that we tell them [NDC] that, you’ve destroyed our lives enough, so they leave
for somebody else to [take charge]. If you (government) cannot have a programme
for 60 percent of your population, please get out of this country, we don’t want
to see you. There is no compromise on this, because if we compromise on it, we
are in trouble.”
Dr. Sunu, the NDP’s parliamentary candidate urged the
electorate of Agortime-Ziope to break the status quo and vote him into
parliament for real development and progress of the area.
According to
him, he is competent enough to serve the people as an MP and appealed to them to
look beyond party colours and cause the needed change. “Of what use is a party
when it cannot change our lives, because political parties are supposed to serve
us and it is not there for us to worship them.”
The NDP flagbearer
earlier paid a courtesy call on some traditional leaders in the constituency to
formally introduce the parliamentary nominee to them.
